The full armor of God

The Full Armor of God

The full armor of God is one of the Bible's key instructions to fight the fight of spiritual warfare.

Ephesians 6:10-17 " Put on the full armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the wordof God.

This is a great passage, especially for anyone wrestling with sin. I battled with God before I was saved. I preferred my life of sin, and rejected salvation until I hit rock bottom. Today my faith is strong. The Lord came to me, picked me up, and made me a new creation when he washed my sins away. Repentance is part of the process of becoming saved, as well as maturing in the faith. In order to repent we must turn away from the sin. Sometimes that can be very challenging. Some sins have a huge stronghold on us, and we can feel like we are fighting a losing battle. Thankfully just fighting the battle, and not giving in is pleasing to God. In the letter to the Ephesians, Paul gives us the key to winning our battles over sin. I know when I have the full armor of God on, sin has no hold over me. Every piece of armor strengthens my soul. But, for me, The sword is my most powerful weapon that I use to slay the temptations that I face. The word of God has never failed me. Staying emerged daily in the good book is like fuel in my gas tank. It keeps me on the right path, and has all the answers to whatever I may face in life. This is obviously my first blog post. I felt it important to explain the title of my blog, what it means to me, and how powerful it is in my life. I hope you can use this post to help fight the temptations that tempt you. I would love to hear any feedback.
